I'm trying to play an old game using VirtualBox (the game is Dark Forces, if it matters). I've found a value that corresponds to the number of shots I have left. I try to change it in CE and... nothing happens. Not even a flicker. So I try to lock it and change it. Again, nothing. It just shows the current value from the game. Any ideas how to fix this, get around it, etc? I've tried looking through other processes with the VirtualBox logo and none of them have the value.

Make sure that in settings mem-mapped regions are scanned (only needed for emulators)

also, when you change a value it doesn't have to be shown in the game. only when it updates it will be shown

Turned out I needed to turn on kernelmode debugger. That worked.
Also, I didn't mean it didn't change in the game, I meant even CE didn't change the value displayed in CE. I would lock the address before changing the value in CE, press enter, type a new value, and then press enter, and it would immediately be back to the original value.
