Hello! I am trying to be able (if possible), to extract or modify sprites from a Sonic Beat-em-up (.exe) game created from OpenBORstats. The game is not online.

The game contains an encrypted .pak file in which contains all data and sprite animations.

From the .exe game, I was able to find the addresses that correlates to the sprites, (such as moving them around from their original position), but that's as far as I can really go.

Any responses would be appreciated. Thank you!

Decrypting the PAK file and extracting the resources is generally the easier method to do this. You can reverse the game client to find where and how it does it internally to recreate the same thing.

You can find the source to OpenBOR's packing tool here as well:

I see, thank you for the link. Are there any kind of tutorial that tells you on how to reverse engine the game client?

Depends on what you are trying to reverse engineer from the client.

The engine itself and the mod you mentioned (OpenBORStats) are both open-source:

Ok. But let’s say that the game is encrypted and none of the applications and mods work to reverse engine, is there a way to break or bypass it?

You would need to debug the app/game and find how it is encrypted to be able to decrypt it.
