Good day,
I recently started doing some research on hacking games and lobotomising processes on my pc. Uplink is the game of interest and an ideal starting point for now, as I thought its old and thus easy to play around. Apparently its not and here is why.
On the logging screen, there are two input boxes for player name and pass respectively. I want to know those values that the player inputs before it registers to the main game. I start by finding the value and scan to find what writes to the address i just found. I find the new address and the offset and then continue with a "what accesses this address" scan. All run smooth until I have no addresses pointing left (haven't found a green base address) or offsets don't cooperate. What am I doing wrong?
Well thank you very much for this one, i didn't knew the source code was avaliable. Although I am an absolute beginner and I have no idea how to practically use the information of the code to put cheat engine to good use. Do i have to do any debugging with cheat engine and compare results over functions of the source code of some sort, or anything similar? Please help.
