That's the official statement which is predictable before it's even made. Nobody wants to sink their company with a single admission.
It's obvious these microchips were added after engineering for some reason. We don't know who ordered the installation and for what the purpose.

I totally get that everyone has been like 'nope, not us'. Doesn't dissuade my curiosity.
The fact that this has been theoretically possible for some years and that it's well-known china is conducting industrial espionage - along with monopolising manufacturing. I'm surprised this news has disappeared so quickly too..

you shouldnt really be surprised. the companies are obviously not going to want to lose money (its why the manufacture in china in the first place) by saying they were effected, and are not going to want the news to spread to ruin their public image. plus the details are slightly technical so the general public wont understand the implications.
but no one ever believes tinfoil hatters, even though in the tech world all the "conspiracy theories" have been correct
