Hello, I was wondering if after completing the CE tutorial, there was a more advanced version? There are quite a few features that remain unused, and I was hoping to learn CE to a fuller extent, preferably with a tutorial that would lead off after where the default one ends.

what features are unused?
maybe the key is to ask, and a tip from me:

- read the help file .chm (the one is shipped with cheat engine)

No, no other tutorial programs, though do realize that the x86 and x64 versions are compiled with slightly different code (same scenarios though) so you should do both if you can Smile

@OldCheatEngineUser off the top of my head
1. mono
2. there's also some java stuff that I haven't managed to figure out yet lmao (but then I almost never mess with java)
3. none of the lua stuff is covered just (mostly) documented in celua.txt (and I'm not sure if that's mentioned anywhere)
4. Ultimap
5. creating trainers/forms

Then there are other things that could be used with the tutorial but how to do so aren't really covered like the structure spider, I'm not sure the AA command createThread is mentioned (and I used a program to scan all the files in the CE directory for that string, though it's possible I missed it)

A lot of it is little things that shouldn't be particularly difficult to figure out like fillMemory, memory regions, etc. but there are a few things that aren't quite as obvious.

at least for now the best ways I can mention is
A) the tutorial which teaches the bascs
B) video tutorials like Stephen Chapman and Cheat The Game (aka Chris Fayte), there are certainly a few others like Guided Hacking but you'll likely come across those two the most for CE specific stuff (at least if you watch English videos lol)
C) just play around and explore things

Of course the last 2 take more time than a tutorial but they'll cover things the tutorial doesn't...

createthread is mentioned in CE's .chm help file.

mono, self explanatory.
ultimap the same.

if you want to talk about uncovered things (most of them are pretty much easy) then it would take a long list for NOTHING. and explaining every single function technically and theoretically would require a lot of work.

CE's help file cover almost everything you need from beginner level to advanced.

people are missing something called READING, if they read and get at least 10% of the help file + tutorial then they should be on their own.

for post author:

again i would say and refer to CE help file, then ask here.
also i would say again many things are self-explanatory, and if you got confused with terminology then refer to google or cheat engine forum.
and if you are looking for cheat-specific-tutorial, thats TOTALLY another and different story.

Just the amount of stuff in the monoscript.lua file can make it a bit difficult to start, a few simple examples could be helpful, I'm sure it's the same with several other things.

But, yeah, taking another look at the help manually shows it does cover createThread, (at least some) lua, and at least describes the structure spider Smile So apparently a simple string string scan doesn't show much of whats actually in the chm file lol

eh.... depends on what you call advanced and "everything" lol It certainly covers a lot but I'm pretty sure there are plenty of general programming/hacking concepts that aren't covered. Not that it should but Smile

that doesn't mean it shouldn't be done lol There's a reason big projects stress good documentation Smile

Some people don't learn well from reading... I for one would much prefer a series of videos covering a few examples that I could watch at 2-3x speed for learning that things exist and the general idea of how they can be used, and then text for quickly referencing something later (eg. what arguments it takes etc.)

I'd definitely say they need more than 10% of the tutorial though... If you can't at least complete the tutorial then you aren't going to understand how to handle instructions that affect both the player and enemies and that's a pretty common issue. If you can complete the tutorial then you can probably manage to get by with a few google searches even without what's left in the help file.

It's not as if they were demanding that a tutorial that covers every tiny detail be created, they just asked if there was one that was more advanced Very Happy

you own the answer, and i would extra words (its a different story)

that can be true, but without messing around with it you wont learn.

im self thought, from a to z.
i:
read, practice, explain things to myself, refer to google when im confused, and if i got no answer or whatever i want then i ask here.

and i would also say that people like you may learn faster when watching vid's or have somebody who knows what you want and teach you, but the hardcore way is by self-teaching.
and believe me, what you learn and teach yourself gonna stay nearly forever because you spent much time on it.
while vids and quick thingies may disappear faster.

But by teaching others, doesn't your knowledge live longer.

EDIT:
And I think setting up a tutorial for the tutorial but using Lua is an interesting idea.

That and I like text, but have even had the times where I just don't get it. But then see just one little thing in a video and then it becomes clear. But I definitely like wikis the most.

Try the challenges here:

Or you could look into keygenme/crackme/patchme/etc. type apps on forums like Tuts4You for other kinds of challenges that involve reverse engineering/debugging.

rep+ atom for saying the best answer, reverse engineering is the best.
