|
|
Hi, I tried for the first time to find a value with CE myself, but CE doesn't seem to find it.
Its about Persona 3 FES (Pal Version) (the already existing table doesn't work with PAL) running on PCSX2 1.4.0. I need to change the 3 Social Stats.
first, if you're not familiar with P3, this is how it usually works (I will take the cafe that boost your charm as an example):
Got Free Time --> Spend time at the café --> get an small event that tells you, that your charm has increased
I can't really find information how much it increases or what the cap is, so that is what I did:
1. Started with "unknown initial value"
2. go to the café
3. next scan with "unchanged Values"
4. enter the cafè, got the event
5. next scan with "changed Values"
6. repeat step 2-5 multiple times
But after some time either non value remains or they are wrong.
Am I doing something wrong? Does someone else have a better way to do it?

well, CE can find any value.
but in fact we cant find the values we desire, unless we manage to find them in such way.
for using unknown initial value, try it with both 4 bytes and float.
you dont know which data type they used, one more thing is disable fast scan when working with emu's.

thanks for the great advice!
I disabled fast scan overall and tried. I couldn't find it neither as float nor as as 4 byte. Than I tried it with 2 bytes and byte. With the last one I found it!

For future reference, in order to guess what data type has been used, consider this:
1 byte can hold values from 0 to 255.
2 bytes can hold values from 0 to 65535
4 and 8 bytes can hold enormous values
floats are used for floating point numbers
doubles are used for very precise floating point numbers (not very common)
Even if something is stored as 4 bytes, as long as the current value is smaller than 255, it will show up in a 1 byte search (and a 2 byte search, and a 4 byte search...), if it is smaller than 65535 it will show up in a 2 byte search (and a 4 byte search) => Use the smallest that fits your "expected range"
