How do I cheat?

So I am able to find and edit certain values, ie. money or food and vehicles and troops using cheat engine, however once edited the values just go back to what they were previously, so basically we change it but just for looks, not anything we can use? am I doing something wrong? please assist?

im sorry I didn't check the rules first, if you like you can delete that post and I will repost without game name.

so is it not possible to commit the changes to the server? does cheat engine not allow for that?
