I just purchased Dawn of Fantasy: Kingdom Wars from steam, and their anti hack system sucks, my question is whether or not it is illegal to add in game money to my account (which you can either make in game or buy from their website). I'm trying to determine if the fact that it is worth money makes it illegal. Since all CE does is edit memory on my computer, I'm thinking that it's fine because I'm not hacking a server or something.

Changing money isn't going to work anyhow, as that isn't stored on your system(you just get a display value, like a paper statement from your bank that you write 0's after with a pen)

Anyhow, legally it might be seen as "fraud" if you make the game lie to the server, so i don't recommend it

They save the money as floats, client side, not many MMOs do that. But yeah, it probably would be fraud, although the chances of a small studio pressing charges are slim.

Not worth the risk. Even if there was no installation agreement prohibiting such things, if they found out, they could still sue you for lost revenue. How an amount could be properly determined is hard to say.

should be noted some vendors will still revoke your entire gaming account (not to say steam is one, but to say if steam was one you would lose the entire account)
