glad you were finally approved. how much will you be receiving and will it allow you and your wife to support yourselves? are you planning to get a job or go back to school? you don't want to live like this forever, man. i'm telling you, this is no way to live. trust me. i've been on both ends of the fence. i remember you had goals and aspirations when i first met you. now, had you had no potential, no real goals for your life then i'd understand your "what's the point" and "i give up" behavior that you're displaying. but that's not who you are. you can accomplish so much more dude. you just gotta pull yourself out of this hole you've dug and get your shit together. pick yourself up, dust off your clothes, and keep walking forward.

on a related note, got approved for a $5,800 grant for CSULB in the fall as a reward for my grades and an essay i submitted. it won't cover everything but it will cover a significant amount and help out tremendously. the whole year for classes alone is going to be around $8,000. then there's money for books for the 8 classes in total i'll be taking which is another $500-$800 depending. then ~$700/month rent for the next year. i'm looking at other options where i don't have to sign a 1 year lease but if most of them are asking for that. this is where my savings comes in from working my ass off last year. that'll pretty much use up all my savings for that first year. fortunately, my mom agreed to pay the remaining couple thousand the grant will not be covering for my classes and my books.

i'm going to have to figure something out during this next year as a full time student. i really wanted to work 40-50 hours a week this summer to save up as much money as i could towards my next two years of school. but this accelerated summer class is a lot more work than i anticipated and has kept me occupied 24/7. there's 5 weeks left and i was planning to work a job while taking this class but i know working a job would result in me not getting an A in this class which is unacceptable in my books. so all i can think of right now is working 40-50 hours a week during my winter break and again during my summer break. my other alternative was finding a job as a sober living home manager which would pay me $1,000-$1,500 monthly as well as free living. that would allow me to go to school, study on the job, and save up money for when i graduate and is looking like my best option.

anyway, i have a lot of planning to do and a lot of hard work to put in towards securing a good future for myself.

you're still young and still have your parents support. but how much longer are they going to keep a roof over your head? how much longer are they going to sit by while you do nothing with your life. eventually you'll push them to their limit and they're going to cut you off and you'll be on your own. this is eventually what will happen to someone in your situation with mental health problems couple with your drug use. you'll end up on the streets homeless and that's when you're really screwed. it's so much harder to get back on your feet once you reach that bottom. at least right now you have two clear paths for you. the unfortunate one i've just mentioned that i've seen way too many go down. and the positive one where you get your shit together, start making yourself proud of yourself, make your parents proud of you, be able to support yourself and reach your potential. you're not dumb. you don't have any physical disabilities. and your drug use has greatly contributed to your mental condition and as a result, stopping the drugs can (over time) reverse a lot of the damage you've done. you have the ability to work a job. you have the ability to go back to school. at least do one. right now you're doing neither. try working a minimum wage job for a year and save every penny. see how shitty it is having to work like a slave for hardly anything. maybe that will open your eyes. because if you don't do something soon to turn your situation around that will be your only option eventually. maybe that will give you the motivation you need to open up to the reality of your situation and motivate you to do something more with your life.
