|
|
Hi, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but I just grabbed Final Fantasy X for PC and wanted to do a solo character run. I was wondering if it was at all possible to use Cheat engine to make it so battles begin with certain party members dead.
For example, I keep Slot 1 normal and Slot 2 and 3 are dead when combat begins.
I messed around and got the game to keep them at 0 hp when it starts, but that's no different from 1 hp since I still need to hit them to kill them.
If it would be to complicated then just tell me and I can live without. I'm still very new to CE and can only do some minor stuff.
For reference:

Oh, I can't post image links it looks like.

More likely than not, you'll need to know x86 if you want to do this. Even if you don't feel like learning it is a good use of your time right now, it could prove to be a useful skill later on.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm not opposed to learning, I just wouldn't know where to start and didn't want to be a bother if it turned out to be something complicated like a script or something.
If you think it's possible and something I could pick up in a reasonable amount of time then I would love if you could point me in the right direction.
Right now I basically only know the little stuff from the basic tutorial like finding values, and I've been doing that off and on for a while.

Learning x86 is a process that takes a decent amount of time. Something like this definitely isn't the best place to start. As a first step, try doing something more simple in the CE tutorial: for example, on step 2, change it so that it adds some number to that value each time you run it.
This YouTube playlist is a somewhat comprehensive introduction to x86, but it's quite lengthy, slow at times, and expects you to know some concepts of computer science already.
This CEF topic is kind of the opposite: it glosses over some important things, oversimplifies a lot of stuff, and is misleading at times; however, it's easy to understand. I'm not even sure I'd recommend it, but at least it's something.

Depending on how the game handles that data, it could be something as simple as a single boolean value for dead/not dead. Look at the common data structures to see if anything changes after a character dies.

Just search for changed/unchanged for dead and not dead status. Since it's an RPG, chances are, there will be a value that determines if the character is alive or not...especially if there are potions or spells that can revive them.

While the Dead in Battle thing is a great Idea for a solo run.
Another way to approach this is the Party Select. Wait till you have 4 Characters and you can change your party members to active not active and search for the Boolean(1 or 0). Start With Active (1)
Then you can force the game to only allow one party member in battle.
I remember Hacking this game back in the PS2 days I still think i might have a Notepad around with all the stuff that never made it to the interent. Good ol days of blind hacking.

Why not just petrify them?
from wikia: "Characters hit with a petrification attack that sends their HP to zero will immediately shatter."
