|
|
There have been issues when android phones get laggy and we decide to uninstall some apps, delete files, or even doing a factory reset to make it perform as fast as if it were brand new, with default apps.
But there have been multiple times when I got different results. I have been reformatting/resetting my phone as well as other people's phones (since most of the people here don't know how). Restoring the phone back to factory defaults may sometimes not fix the problem with performance and it is still very laggy, like the defaults apps takes 10 seconds to open, and screen freezes for 2-3 seconds when you're just scrolling. There were no other apps aside from the default ones and absolutely no messages, contacts, photos, videos, porn, just all that empty space. Everything else is working so there is no damage on the phone.
Could this possibly be a sign of hardware wear and tear / degradation? I'm suspecting it's caused by the internal components being exposed to too mush overheating from intensive device use during the past few months or years. For PCs too much CPU heat and poor cooling can degrade a CPU's performance (and maybe RAM or GPU as well?). I was just thinking if the same principle applies to smartphones cause I really don't know what is going on here.
Note: There are 8 android phones here with me, 5 of which are pretty high end. All experiencing the same problems. Customer service says that they can't fix it since there is nothing broken and phones really tend to become slower over time (even after factory reset, really?) and it's a sign to upgrade to a new phone (really? but this is still high end compared to this year's current phones)

you've done a factory reset and made sure it had no internet?
because it could have downloaded new updated versions in the background. And the newer versions tend to be slower
but yeah, could be degradation. Perhaps a contact is slightly lose but not enough for a malfunction, causing it to internally get flooded with unexpected attach/detach interrupts which can cause it to slow down
and heat could be a problem as well.
e.g. when i bought my phone (galaxy s6) after initial setup and it getting all the updates, it actually burned my fingertips.
could also be that it was faulty to begin with since a a month later the battery started swelling and pushed out the back cover, so had to get it replaced. (afterwards it was fine)
