Personally Yii, Symfony has been nothing but a pain in the ass when I've worked with it. As for pro's and con's. That's a tough one. They're quite similar.
If you're looking for a new framework to learn, Laravel.

Hi,
Using symfony 2-3 since 2 years now i can say its very good, most likely because it is widely used, so you will never struggle to find support. Beside this, you have the package system (packagist.org) and there you can find so many packages... sometime you belive you'll have to build a package to do something specific that you may use on another project, then by searching a little on packagist you have a BIG chance that a similar package already exist, sometime you may even find some packages even better than the first idea you had.
I don't know for Yii, but i never ran into annoying problems with symfony 2-3, it very convenient as a lonewolf, and work flawlessly in teamwork. To be honest the only real struggle i had, was the learning of the framework... its not like learning a new language, where you know all the logic and you have to learn the syntax... no this framework make you think different, and you may give up some old habit you had before, but belive it or not, its better that way.
There is many great features in symfony, but to quote only one, my favorite... the console, this one is awesome, you can do many things through it even run some basic raw SQL commands. Beside this you are also able to write your own set of commands, and this gives you easy power, you may combine this with crontab or shell scripts, i don't think there is a limit on this framework, just rules to follow, which can be a problem for some devs.
