|
|
Just saw this news article and wondered what the implications might be for certain CE usage:
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/01/intel-skylake-bug-causes-pcs-to-freeze-during-complex-workloads/
In other words, some Skylake users might experience freezes that--if they don't know about this bug--seem like they stem from CE usage (provided they're doing something "complex" enough).
Recommending that Skylake users update their BIOS (once the update is released) might be something worth noting somewhere, or just keeping in the back of your mind.

My CPU had just "died" on me and I exchanged it in for a new one.

System just froze today, was all "WTF". Saw this thread, checked CPU-Z, Skylake.
Well then.

Damn, that sucks. At least they've acknowledged it and are working on a fix? The bright side of the situation, perhaps? lol. *Shakes fist at Intel*

Yep, Intel replaced it, no questions asked.
New one's running fine... for now.
