Yes, there is probably a post out there witch explains this, but I'm too lazy to search for it.
So I accidentally kept CE running while playing cs, I got VAC error after about 30 seconds of being in a server, I was just wondering if you can get VAC'd without actually hooking the .exe ?
No guesses or assumptions please, I'd like a simple yes or no.

Yes.
VAC scans your computer as far as I know for stuff like Cheat Engine / trainers. Not sure if it actually has to be running, or if it scans for default folder files, etc.
It's definitely positive that it gets detected by just running it on the background though (without attaching it).
