Cheat Engine

so i'm having an issue that i can't find any answers about. let me start from the beginning... i pirated borderlands 2, which works perfectly as it is, i got cheat engine and managed to give myself extra gold keys and sometimes when i open the golden chest with said keys the game freezes altogether, and here's the weird part: when i close and reopen, it freezes on startup immediately, basically it tries to load the start menu and hangs indefinitely, i went into the save data to see if anything was amiss and another weird thing happened... it tried to load properties when i told it to, and it hung there too, the only cure was a restart, and it does this every time, with a seemingly random number of chest opens before it freezes, does anyone have any idea what this is? is there a fix?
