Risperdal does not make you "start to come back to reality". It was originally used to "cure" senile agitation, by acting as a tranquilizer.
Later, in mental hospitals, when schizoaffective patients, being disturbed by patterns of abuse (psychiatrists account for 30% of medical sex abuse, google it), starting showing signs of violence (self defense against forced drugging is considered "violence"), they started putting EVERYBODY in the mental hospital on risperidone, PRIOR to their admission, evaluation, and diagnosis (I know this from first hand experience). This is done even today, entirely to maintain social order in the ward and to make people less resistant to being in the hospital. It has never successfully relieved symptoms of psychosis on its own. The only reason they're called "anti-psychotics" is because it was a good marketing decision.
The world as I'm experiencing right now, this is reality. When I'm on risperidone, that's just a drawn-out-of-energy, sucked-of-all-life, over-sedated version of me.

it definitely has and will relieve symptoms of psychosis.
not as great as other anti-psychotics. i agree with you on the feeling. but they definitely do help with psychosis.
