I don't want to live in a world where I am not allowed to complain about arbitrary things. I don't want all my conversations to be about serious "real" issues all the time.
Edit: read up on the issue, like I thought, just people talking about dumb shit. People will always find something to be offended about, but I don't even know what people are actually offended by and how much is just media spin, so I just ignore it. Wouldn't even know about the "controversy" if not for this thread.
Also, how dare starbucks declare war on christmas!

The reason why they're angered by minor issues like a red Christmas cup is that it is part of human nature to be angry, to criticize, to question things and think for yourself.
However, the 2% often suppress this evolutionary skill in humans, by controlling the media, we are never able to receive information about what's happening all the way in Afghanistan for instance, where terrorists (US military) are responsible for an invasion. By getting the population to be so increasingly dumbed down and flat, they have nothing to be angered about, so they resort to criticizing colors of coffee cups.
Alternatively, one might argue that any potential feelings of conflict are diverted, that we pay less attention to other events, this is in part due to media emphasis and misdirection.
