ive been using user 'SunBeam's tutorial on how to use the developers console for Dead Island and it worked fine up until today, it keeps removing the new modified "game_x86_rwdi" file when i put it in my dead island folder then when i run the game it says its missing, any ways you guys can help me?

Regarding the section it would have made more sense to post in sunbeam's thread, but you're not in the wrong section either, so meh...

I just tested Sunbeam's modified dll with today's steam version (buildID 264676 / game version 1.3.0) and the game launches and plays normally albeit with an extra menu. I also tried enabling the "vac secure game" option but the game still starts.
Conclusion: it's not a protection built inside the game or steam that removes your dll. I highly doubt an antivirus would flag _that_ dll as malware, but check just in case... Or maybe your dll has been infected by a 3rd party malware (md5 of that file should be 381851F10587F0CD3DEE5A7FE812490C ).

I would say your security software is the culprit here. Steam wouldn't do that
