Okay, so a lot of people that I know of personally tell me all about binaural beats, how they produce altered states naturally and can also enhance/alter the "trips" of various psychedelic substances.

I've tried the beats for three years, and I must say, most of the "dissociated" feelings I achieve can be attributed to the prolonged meditation and concentration, the beats are just there for "muting" or "deafening" background noise, similar to how some psychonauts prefer to use blindfolds during a psychedelic trip (Read about sensory deprivation)

Now, last winter I had the worst kind of high school induced lethargy ever. I relied on caffeine pills to get by, and obviously my tolerance had gone to the point where I had to take so many pills, they would induce nausea and cause me to puke (defense mechanisms, I am so grateful).

Today, every time I smell the pill bottle or just look at it, it triggers the very same kind of nausea and regurgitation from back in the day. My point?

Just like how I can relive the moments of suffering from caffeine pills from last semester, people can, in a way, "memorize" a psychedelic trip, captivated in the form of music, binaural beats! Then they relive the moment each time they listen to binaural beats, and therefore, the beats serve as a very convenient placebo.

It's just like how a very old song can take you far back, invoke feelings of nostalgia, tears even.

i used caffeine in high school too. but i never took more than a 1x200mg caffeine tablet. 400mg was too much. gave me angina and my heartrate was unhealthily high. i would also try to take 25-50mg of ephedrine. that shit was great.

actually im pretty sure how binaural beats work is they simulate alpha delta brain waves or some shit

binaural beats are a placebo
asmr is real, but apparently only 30% ish of people experience it, no one knows why yet
binaural beats can be a trigger for asmr, but anyone that claims they get high or have an orgasm as the result of some frequency tones someone cooks up in garageband is either lying or just causing it because they believe hard enough
my reasoning is that binaral beat publishers often claim that it can take a long time and lots of "practice" to experience the effects
this is congruent to the definition of placebo
asmr on the other hand can and will be experienced by those receptive on very first exposure, whether they've been told about asmr or not.
I first felt the tingles when listening to that 3d barbershop clip that's become so famous, and I went looking for more audio that would cause that sensation and eventually discovered asmr.
