Basically it isn't clear why is it contacting to the microsoft servers when you disable services that should connect to those servers.

There is a lot more already discovered that Windows 10 is doing without permission as well as being opt'd in by default. Just Google around for more the NSA worthy things that Windows 10 does stock.

If you are someone concerned with privacy, then Windows 10 is certainly not the OS for you.

I legitimately don't care about what they record about me at this point. Between microsoft, and google, they know more about my life than I do. They have statistics, so they already determined my future, hobbies, likes, dislikes, medical conditions (or lack thereof) and everything. There's nothing left to hide, so I may as well reap the benefits.

How is this surprising ?.

Google has been doing this with android and nobody seems to mind. If you care about privacy, don't use internet or phones. If its not one company, there is another one that is already spying on you, no way to hide from them unless you are willing to give up the services they provide.

Nobody is surprised, but it's still important to raise public awareness. The foolish apathy is destructive... but trying to defend the spying is absurd.

I've noticed that since the health-care industry took up the "patient bill of rights", instead of working to strengthen privacy the industry has chosen to inform you of all the ways they are abusing your information. Go to ANY doctor, dentist, or specialist now and your new-patient forms look exactly like a disreputable software license. I am absolutely not OK with signing an agreement that allows the author to change it at any time while binding retroactively. Yet I'm sure there are simpletons out there who would argue, "if you don't want your medical history sold to drug marketing teams, don't go to the doctor!" Fucking dumbasses.

Our legislation didn't keep up with technology. What we need is customer protection from our governments. It should, quite simply, be illegal for a product or service to perform functions unrelated to their advertised purposes.

Same here. My comp can't handle the awesomeness that is Windows 10. I will wait for 10.1

Interesting that you brought the medical field into this, i am involved in it and i have to tell you that there are far worse things that are wrong with medical industry than your medical history being sold. Actually thats for your own benefit and i don't even think that happens frequently or at all.

I completely agree with you but there is no point in fussing over something you can't change. Besides, what is Microsoft going to know about you that Google doesn't already ? Look at the new Google Photos.

PS: I am not defending spying, i am simply indifferent to it.

It's already at that price if you want to buy a physical copy.
- 64bit Windows 10 Home : $99.99
- 64bit Windows 10 Pro: $139.99

Here are some other fun Windows 10 reports lately:

If you do plan to upgrade / install Windows 10, I encourage you to get Windows 10 Pro so you can disable / opt-out of updates. As of today, there has been two force-update pushes that have caused peoples machines to basically become bricks until reformatted. Something that has been a major concern since the announcement that Windows 10 Home users will not be able to opt-out of updates.

Microsoft did adjust that you can opt-out of some updates now but not all of them. And with that, the most recent fuck up was an update that you could not opt out of.

Also if you do plan to use Windows 10, and you are concerned with privacy, take the time to really research into how to tun off things. Microsoft did a fine-tuning job of hiding a lot of things from users to try and collect as much data as possible. Along with that, rather then things being something you have to opt-into, on Windows 10 you are pretty much opt'd into everything automatically and instead have to opt-out.
