Recently I'm getting these when changing default settings for pointer scanner (changing anything):


It's not a helpful error, can someone tell me what CE cannot find?

Extra:

It's scanning and scanning so it's wasting time, it does find "pointer paths" (more than 0). Then when done scanning I get this and I see no results.

Can you upload the .ptr and .ptr.* files somewhere ?

Also, what 'anything' did you change? Compressed ptr on/off? Did you use the networked pointerscan? (in that case compressed must be off, it's a bug)

it seems restarting CE has caused somehow for it to work *for now*, but usually i'm busy, CE is open for 8Hours, and I've done more than ~60 pointer scans, reevaluating scans, doing new scans, rescanning, opening old scans, then, after some unknown X time I use these settings:



And bam, the error happens, usually I name new pointer scans alike, like GameName-PurposeOfScan-[A,B,C,D,...]-RescanNumber and hit save:

GTA-V-PositionX-C-12.ptr etc.

I have a few pointer scan files from when it happened if needed.

I should note I did not try opening the ptr scans after the error, usually I ignore it and try new filenames and other settings. but once it starts, it keeps happening in almost any settings combination, then I have to restart Cheat Engine.

If it begins to happen, it always happens immeadiately after "Generating pointer scan map...", it doesn't even show the scanning threads progress. It's done immeadiately I think.

I don't know if it helps...

I'd just like to note that I myself saw this happen some (while I was still just lurking). CE 6.4.

When I had this happen I had pointer scan settings which produced NO pointers for the FIRST scan (at least I'm fairly confident that was the why in hind sight). In my case the files that a pointerscan would produce were 0 bytes.
