so im playing a game and the damage value on my character is currently 23 so i searched for 23 and got many address. then i removed a ring from my character and the value changed to 22 so i did a scan for 22 and then no address's were shown. i have tried it taking different items off too but no luck.

try different variable types, and perhaps damage is stored as total life left and just shown as total damage

If by damage you mean actual damage you deal per attack, that value likely isn't stored anywhere.
The game may calculate that on the fly based on your weapon damage and player power attributes.
Also, "23" may be a rounded number. Try a float search between 22 and 24.

Hi thanks but the game is very basic its from 2002 so it just has a stat called DC and each item may have DC1 or DC3 ect and weapon DC20 ect so i dont know what else to try.

It need to be stored somewhere, regardless if it's just a displaying value or the one that's actually representing the true damage you can deal. If it's the displaying value you can dig deeper to find where it gets calculated an modifiy the calculating values.

That might help.
You might try different scan types, too. Like "Changed/Unchanged value" and/or "Increased/Decreased value". Then you defenitely going to find your damage value address.
