Hey, I'm planning to build a budget gaming computer and after doing some research I ended up with this build, though I've never built a PC myself and frankly don't know much about what's good or not so I'd like to get some opinions on this.

Anything I should change? Something I missed or misunderstood?
I chose AMD for both the CPU and GPU because they're a lot cheaper than Intel and Nvidia, but seem to be just as good (or slightly less good but better bang for your buck).

good build, except for the 3TB drive, get 1TB + an SSD. also you might want to just save up a bit more $$$ and get a amd 290, they go on sale pretty often

you have

Thermaltake SMART 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

and add some for HDD,CDRW,Monitor,Cooler,Motherboard with RAM.
gl in powering that up.

buy intel,AMD is shit for no reason at all.
also NEVER BUY ATI CARDS NEVER.
no1 build games around them NO1 !!111
every1 make gamez around NV,so basically buying a game with those cards is like playing russian rullete. 50/50 game will not run or run with bad optimization or graphical artifacts.

You did wrong with the 1x8GB RAM. Motherboards have multi-channel support for RAM. I recommand you to use it (Moreover, you can't mix different memory bar on a single multi-channel slot). You can buy 2x4GB bar instead.

For the GC I'm agree with Nibelton. Since than ATI is late about drivers releases for game support, you may look for an Nvidia GC.
But, for a little budget ATI is the best.

EDIT 1 :

You don't need a CPU Cooler, you can use the stock delivered with your CPU. Buying one in a little budget build is a waste. Put his price in a better GC.

I built a "better" (In my opinion) build with your website : [pcpartpicker url]/p/y94k3C
I prefer a better GC (The Nvidia GTX 960) and less HD capacity, since a gamer is more focused on the graphic.
A motherboard don't need expensive and uselesse options. So I took a simple and cheap one.
I added a SSD drive. A gamer want its game to load quickly.

Shortly : 1TB HDD, 127GB SSD, 2x8GB RAM, 3.2GHz Dual-Core, GTX 960

It miss the monitor.

EDIT 2 :

Oops, I missed to explain why I drastically downgraded the CPU : Graphics are computed better by GPU than by CPU. Having a 8-core CPU is only a right choice if you're doing 3D modelisation or Video rendering. A lot of video-games don't handle the multi-core properly.

WAAAIT ! he had 1x8 ????????? LOOOOOOOOOL
fuk lolloolololo that made my day, brah,NEVER do this again.
you should pick 2x4 or 1x8 for too many reasons to list them all.
also advice: NEVER mix ram NEVER. i.e. never put kingston with Transcend or anyother. it's not advisible even mix kingston X ram with kingston B ram.
its alsways should be 2xKingston X or B never B and X not performance wise cuz you know.. S.Y.N.C.H.R.O.N.I.Z.A.T.I.O.N.

no,he should get x8
age of x32 is gone, now x64 is starting to pop up everywhere so they will utilize x8 also if game use 4 cores, then he still have 4 more to for his OS or anyother app that is heavy on CPU.

Thanks for the tips!

Yeah, I chose the 1x8GB since I figured that I'm probably going to want to add more RAM in the future.

I decided to go and spend some extra money on an Nvidia GTX 970 card. Should last me pretty long.
I still haven't decided on a CPU though. Right now I'm in between 'If I'm gonna spend so much an a GPU, I should try to save some money by getting a cheaper CPU' and 'If I'm gonna spend so much on a computer, better go all the way'.

Nibelton said right, you won't need more than 16GB for a while. So take 2x4GB for now (Multi-channel is good), then, if you want an upgrade, take another 2x4GB (This one can be different from your "old" while your motherboard support it. It's something that all motherboards can do today).

"x32" never existed o.O What is this ? Before x64 there was x86.
However, there is no relation between ISA and the number of cores used by programs. The multi-core support is only dependant of program implementation.
I hope that your OS use more than 1 core, but it don't consume a lot of ressources. For games, I'm always in doubt regarding their multi-core handling.

A LOT of bad advice in this thread
just look up recommended builds by other people, and just pick one that fits your price range and what you want to do with it

wait like a month. AMD is supposed to release their 3xx which will cause all gpus to lower. Also the most important part to not skimp is the gpu. CPUs after a certain point don't matter. Don't pay extra for more ram on gpus. It doesn't help unless you are playing 4k

my 660 still conquers every game thrown at it on high settings at 1080p

its smoother than my new 970 strix
the strix has way better frames but stutters occasionally which the 660 never did

Same here but for a 780. I can run all my solo games at ultra-high without dropping under 50 FPS (Crysis 3 and The Witcher 3 included). "High" quality is handled without frame-drop.
