I just think it is mind blowing that european descent homosapiens interbred with neanderthals. Makes me wonder if the neanderthals actually went extinct due to genetic absorption by the larger population of homosapiens. Could neanderthals be living on in all of us by a melting pot of genes?
It also makes me wonder about how the interbreeding affects european descent humans today. Does the genes positively or negatively affect us? Does it even affect us at all?
Also, if neanderthals were close enough related to homosapiens to produce fertile offspring, would that mean that they would be considered a "race" of humans today if they were still alive?

On the subject of human races, would researching the differences between races and past humans cause racism? Would racist elitists pick up that data published, and use it to justify racism?
