cant figure out why it sounds so empty and why i hate it so much
disregard the drums, they're just a placeholder for now, though they may be the problem

No but really it's sounds good, besides the drums. I know how you can make that chord progression sound better as well, you should make every other last chord a cadence so it doesn't get repetitive

Here is your main problem: Your lead synth has a lot of sub bass if you listen to the beginning of the song. These frequencies will stack up with the bass from the real 808 and lose it's punch because the waves get muddy and cancel each other out. I'm a fan of that plugin sylenth, but since you're on FL you have an abundance of free (warez) VSTs you could get and even some free ones. Look into the Waves mercury bundle because it has some nice plugins like Waves TransX Wide and Waves L3 Ultramaximizer stuff like that to clean up your mix. Use Parametric EQ's to cut out the low end in your synths like a low pass filter, then your kicks and sub will have more punch. Some free plugins I reommend for your bass are CamelCrusher 64 bit, which add harmonics because it creates distortion, use very sparingly. Then the sausage fattener which will compress and pump up bass (I usually use this for just the kick not sub). I put my headphones on to listen and you need a lot of work making those synths sound smooth and nicely EQ'd and compressed, which involves cutting out some low end to get rid of muddiness as well as high end to take out static.

It's tough man I'm still struggling with proper EQ-ing and filtering especially with the low end percussion kind of sound in pianos. I'm still in the hobby phase as well since I haven't made any money, but I'm still very serious and practice everyday.
Use this kit for your bass it has some nick kicks and 808s, but make sure to use a kick without too much sub if you wanna layer unless you go back and forth. http://www.filedropper.com/jahlilbeatskit Make sure you go to to INS then VOL turn ATT all the way down, HOLD all the way up, DEC all the way down, SUS all the way down, and REL all the way down. You should see these when you drag in one of these samples.

They use a plugin similar to Waves MaxxBass or maybe the Decapitator. It adds extra harmonics so bass can be heard even on laptop speakers and phones.
