For about 10 seconds then the scan would finish as if it were normal, anyway to fix this? occoured less when I had more allocated paging memory

Cheat engine's scan hasn't completely finished when the first scan says it has finished. It still has to do some background processing on the rersults it gathered. (copying them to the "First" save result set, copying them to the undo scan result set)

when you do a next scan before that is done you have to wait till it's done before the scan actually starts. You can speed it up slightly by disabling undo scan support
