So... delicate topic... I recently read about PFC Manning legally becoming a woman while under trial for treason. If I am interpreting what I've read correctly, PFC Manning is in a male prison. The army was required to carefully refer to Manning with gender specific pronouns during the trial, instead of the before/after combination names (Brandon/Chelsea) that they have historically used for people who changed their names during proceedings. This, to me, suggests that they recognized Manning as a woman. Is a male prison the right place for this person?

Related question: if you were sentenced to 35 years in a US federal pound-your-ass prison, would you consider taking on a transgender label if it meant you could be sentenced to a woman's facility?

And the womens prison isn't going to fuck you up just as much? Women are not gentle, they some crazy bitches, especially in that large of a group.

pleading insanity isn't just mental illness. its that the person committing the crime didn't realize that their actions were morally wrong or that they couldn't stop themselves from doing the act. transgender wouldn't really affect this definition. ( i listened to a podcast on this last night )
