I wanted to give some feedback on my experience when installing cheat engine 6.4
Before I say more, I want to say, using ads to generate revenue is a great thing. Radio and TV have been doing it for decades, and developers should be able to do the same.
Its also worth mentioning that a ad free version of cheat engine can be downloaded from this site.
Having said that...
When I installed cheat engine 6.4 it came with a package called OpenCandy, which as I understand, a package that installs various ad generating software to help out the developer.
What I got hit with, however, was pretty aweful. OpenCandy installed something called Positive finds which all but hijacked my browsers, and spammed me with so many ads I could barely see the webpage i visited.
Positive finds prevented me from downloading any software that might be used to remove Positive finds. (ad aware, malwarebytes etc...)
I tried to uninstall Positive Finds, and afterwards, I still got the ads.
So I had to manually go to each browser and remove the Positive Finds extensions. But I still got ads.
So then I had to go to each browser and just totally reset the browser and erase all histories. That did the trick for firefox and internet explorer, but chrome was still just filled with ads.
I had to uninstall chrome, wipe it completely out, and re install, and finally the ads were gone.
I don't know if there is anyway to choose what ad generating software OpenCandy installs, but I would definitely not recommend Positive Finds. Its pretty rough.
Thanks,
- P

Pretty sure you don't need to install anything for DB to generate some ad-revenue from the installer. Could be wrong though. But even DB basically tells people to just skip all the extra junk.

i'll contact opencandy about this as the terms say that uninstall should have removed all trace of it (you did uninstall it using the official uninstall procedure? because some tools that say they will clean your system do a lousy job and just break the uninstall)

Yes.
I initially used the standard windows un-install. But when that was unsuccessful I had to go online and find instructions on how to remove the rest.
