Why does the installer have this adware? It wasn't there the last time I installed this program. Also it doesn't even let me install the program at all without installing the adware, first it asks if I agree to the terms and conditions of some kind of "PC optimizer" which I don't want, and the options are either Agree (and install it) or decline. I press decline, and it opens up another terms and conditions page, this time for a search engine and homepage. This time, options are either Agree, which installs the program, or Skip. I press skip, and it just closes the installer. It doesn't let me install this program at all without agreeing to the terms of the crapware.
What is this and why is it there? And before you tell me "I might be interested in it", I don't want any of that proprietary crap nor any of the search engine homepages that serve me ads.
Also, why does the forum registration confirmation send my password in plaintext? That's a huge security risk.
Don't get me wrong, I like this program but all the adware you bundle with it is just total crap and shouldn't be included there, it just hurts users.

weird, normally skip (on the installer that has a skip button) should have continued the install unless there was an network issue. Did your firewall block it from downloading the cheatengine files? Or is your network speed slow? ( so it wasn't done downloading when you clicked skip)
check the download page, there you will find a link without installer

first off, it's the cheat engine forum password. it's not like it's an account with your bank
secondly, this site doesn't use https, so when you log in, your password is transmitted as plain text anyhow

But loads of people tend to use the same password for all internet platforms. I know it's finally their problem, but the passwords are hashed in the forums database, aren't they?

they are hashed, but if you login the password is still sent as plain text.
so someone can just use a packet sniffer to find it
