I'm trying to do a first rescan of a game called runers, the original 10 levels deep file was 346gb, with the no loops option enabled, and this is the error message I get once i'm around 10% through.
Does anyone have some idea what this could be about, or how I could stop this from happening?
I'm running on 8gb of ram, on a first gen i5 750 cpu

Are you using ce6.4? If not, ce 6.3 and older have an issue with some 64-bit systems if they are running shell extensions
If you do, then check that your pagefile can still grow

Or broken HDD (SDD) - if you have more physical drives, try the other one.
Or broken RAM - run "memory test programs".

I have indeed been running 6.4, the one that doesn't mention whether it's 32 or 64bit
I've tried on 2 hard drives, one of them a 2 months old SSD
I'll try a, memory test program
Is memtest386 still reliable?
Edit: I'll try as well to monitor the page file closely. It's strange though that the page file would be fine when I was creating that huge first pass that took a day or do to create, and yet a, limiting factor when I read it to create that first, smaller pass
