| I had same problem on both windows 7 and windows 8. In playback devices headphones are "Not plugged in". However it works on Linux. Maybe because Linux always plays sound through all the audio jacks and when I plug in headphones it doesn't mute speakers. |

Have you got the correct drivers installed?
Find the ones from your motherboards manufacturers website _________________

I kinda have a problem like this, I plug in my headphones, they work for 1 second then it swaps over to the speakers again even though its plugged in. I have windows 7, no clue why it does this, but its a rare problem so it doesnt bother me so much. _________________
