Hi,
As the title says most of you may know what is happening.
I was playing a game "divinity - original sin" (offline) and tried to add some skill points.
When i leveled up I get 1 point to spend so i started the cheat engine and was looking for the value. I managed to do this because when you spend that point in game you can actually degrade that point and put to something else - this mean you can minus and add. When i had 1 point i spend for strength then i had 0 points so i typed that value in CE and then again, gave back that point so i had 1 point again.. And so on, till i found the address i was looking for, there were not many addresses, only one so i thought it must be it. However when i changed the value in CE and frozen it, the value in-game didn't change.
I created this thread in hope that somebody know what to do.
I am looking for any advices in this case.
Thanks!!

- Try another address
- Try NOT changing the value to something like this: 99999999999 (in some games its imposible), make the value 10 and freeze.
- Make sure that the values are NOT stored on a server.

I have blocked the internet connection to make sure there is no online values, such as server one.
At first, I have tried to change the gold value, and it worked very well.
So let's say that with gold it works.
Now let's change the value of the skills.
1. I have found the address ( = 1)
2. I have frozen it to be 1
3. After I spend the point I had 0, even tried to close and open the inventory and skill tab again, but doesn't work
The same thing sometimes happen to other games where I can't change values of specific things, especially skills.

After you spend the 1 skill point that you freezed, CE display the value 0 or 1?
Try changing the instruction that writes to the value.

CE displayed the value of 1 that was freezed, in game value was 0
I don't really understand what you want to say that I need to change the instruction
I have attached 2 pictures of in-game interface menu

I have had this issues a few times recently both with Dominions 3 and Dynasty warriors 8. My guesstimate is that is just a display counter that your editing and the value for the skill points is a whole other separate value if that makes any sense.
Like in a lot of games there are 2 values for a specific thing say an Ammo counter so say you start with 30 bullets you shoot a few and after a few scans you find two values of 28 you edit value one to be 2000 but leave the other as 28 when you go back in game your ammo counter is 2000 but when you shoot one bullet it goes to 27. So you lock both at 2000 and your good to go.
For whatever reason cheat engine is derping on finding the linked value set, or it is purposely more buried. This is just a theory I hope to hear thoughts of some of the more seasoned data editors.

I have another
Right click the address -> what writes to this address
look for something like this mov [***],*** or add [***],***
and then click "Replace"
after you did it, the SkillPoints should not be decareased anymore.
P.S if you having trouble with finding the instruction (E.g mov [***],*** or add [***],*** - post a picture of the "What writes this address" list.)

I actually did it.
The problem was that not with the address itself but the one with memory I have looked at. There was second address which was adding and subtracting the value. I have "Replaced" it as you said and the value stayed the same.
I could give you a "Like" but I can't

Haha thats ok )) im happy that i could help you
Also if you click on the "Advanced Options" in the bottom of the main window, you can find there the value that you NOP'ed (replace = replace with NOP's), also Right Click on it and you can UN-NOP it

Any work on this? I was trying my best to get my pretender with a few extra points but no matter what I do it will either crash saying too many design points. Or it will say, Cannot do with negative design.
