so i did an "all" type scan for the first time to try and figure out what type the item i was looking for is and the dress i received back was thus:
0740730:s "number i searched here" now i notice other ":" codes such as "d,4,8" and was just wondering what they mean and if i need to worry about them?

It's the way the address is interpreted (sometimes you will see the same address with different interpretations)
s=float
d=double
4=4 byte
8=8 byte

1 will be 1 byte yes, but AOB is not part of the all type so you won't be seeing that
Custom types can show up though, depending on your settings and if you have any custom types installed. (e.g the money type, or big endian type)
