Cheat Engine

Hello, I've searched everywhere to see if I could find an answer for my question but I didn't find anything.
Well,my problem is:
I've been playing AoK for about 2 days now,as I found it on my old HD,and I wondered what I could do with cheat engine,and ok,I did some changes and blahblahblah,but I've tried changing a value using all the ways possible(well,maybe not all) and i couldn't change that.

The Militia unit starts with a base attack 4,and it keeps growing as you make updates through the barracks,from 4 to 6,6 to 9 and keeps going until 13 I think,ok,i've searched for a exact value (4) and 6 after the upgrade,and 9 and... till I found a value and changed it,I froze it but it didn't work on the game,the value was unchangeable,and I don't know what to do,how do I change that?
