Cheat Engine

I'm playing Dishonored and I successfully modify what I need, but if my game locks up or when I stop and start again, the CT file I saved no longer works & I have to go through the whole process over again. Am I doing something wrong or do the codes for each item change with every startup?

It might be because the addresses (the "codes") aren't static, they're reallocated at each startup of the game (so they change), you might want to find the pointer for these addresses.

If you don't know how to do that, i advise you to do the CE Tutorial or search in the forum, there are plenty of tutorials about pointer finding.

I've read something about pointers. I'll check up more on that. My issue is whenever I die (Not start a new game), my game crashes. Would pointers fix that? If not, then there really isn't much point to using Cheat Engine for this game.

Are you freezing the addresses before the games crashes ?

Because the game allocates a new value for your hp (for example), tries to change the value of the old address and read it (my guess), since you're freezing the value, the game reads an invalid value and crashes.

I think that pointers may solve your problem (or AA scripts too i think), i'm not sure about what i've told you here, if someone can confirm what's happening or have a solution...
