I've been using CheatEngine for two years now, always lurked these forums and never took the time to post.
I created an account today to express my anger at CheatEngine installing with malware "Conduit Search" with upended my computer right when I needed it yesterday.
Until this changes I won't be using CheatEngine, and I'll be advising friends and family to stay away as well.

@Indref, do you have skip button or checkbox? If not, that will be somoto/betterinstaller/opencandy fault.

I'm uninterested in such details. The malware is in the installer and I don't find that acceptable.

Donate to DB so he won't need to use those ads/offers for server costs/revenue.

The installer doesn't come with it.
It downloads a offer page from an advertiser service
In your case it downloaded the offer page for whatever installer conduit search

It's clear you don't intend you change your views or methods.

The CE installer doesn't have that program inside it. The offer/advertisement that you get is not picked by Dark Byte either. The advertising company will give you some offer, based on your region and probably some randomness. It's the same as when you open a website and a random advertisement pops up. The pop-up is not part of the site, but it's there.
CE is open source anyway. Just download the one without the installer, or compile it by yourself from the source code.
Or go to OpenCandy and tell them that they suck at advertising or picking clients. Dark Byte is just providing a space for the ads, it's not his fault that some of those ads are crap.

They say ignorance is bliss but in your case its a crime.
You should stop using Google products altogether since they allow a lot of spyware/adware in their ads too. Best to stop using the internet altogether since all browsers allow malware to be downloaded and you shouldn't support those devs for allowing malware in their browser.
Idiot.

use Adwcleaner to remove conduit if you have accidently installed it. Its free search google. Standalone exe.
I tried to remove conduit (acquired from some other software) from many programs inlcuidng Kaspersky, Norton, but it couldnt be removed. Adwcleaner unexpectedly removed it completely
As far installer is concerned, its obviously not DB's fault. Stop complaining for something so useful to you, that you did not even have the patience to see the checkbox of conduit install!

You know I was actually about to post a thread about this, was giving a link to my step-brother to update from 6.2
And both me and him got a pick up from Malware-Bytes.
Though as far as we were concerned, we took it as a false positive, which is the case obviously.

Just make sure you don't install it. Click skip on the bottom left, or deselect the checkbox depending on which installer you get. (there are 2)
The rules of the advertisers state clearly that the offer should be easy to uninstall using start->settings->programs, but better be safe than sorry. It could be one offer(e.g a free game) installs another offer (an anti virus) which installs another offer which doesn't adhere to that rule(conduit). They can be that annoying at times (Just report it when that happens and I'll contact the first tier advertiser)

Just to clarify, it's not malware, it's just adware.
Not that I'm too happy about it being in there either, but if you're going to install programs at all nowadays you're going to need to look before you click, because even things like utorrent and other such "safe" softwares often have ads in the installer for money.
