How do I cheat?

Hello there.

I've been trying to use D3D with Dark Souls. I've managed to draw a box on-screen, though it disappears after only a split second. (In windowed mode), when I click on the title bar, it seems to refresh the screen and draw the box on screen again, but only for what seems to be a single frame.

What am I doing wrong?

(P.S. I checked, other games don't have this issue for me).
