Cheat Engine

Hi all,

I was wondering if you are able to use Cheat Engine for games that are on Steam? I ask because there's no tutorial on how to use it, and Steam never pops up in any searches.

I have followed the tutorials and have been able to locate the game in question but I'm not able to change the score. I used both methods of doing the 8 x (score), and just using my regular score I get (pause, insert current score and scan).

Nothing seems to work. If this program capable of boosting scores on games that are in store.steampowered dot com?

Ignore Steam and attach to the game and hack the game as normal. Because the game does not run within Steam, it runs on it's own, as it's own process, just as if it was installed outside of Steam.

If your hacks aren't working it has nothing to do with Steam, you're just not changing the right values. The value something is displayed as to the player is NOT always the value that is actually kept internally. Do an unknown/relative search.

Thanks for the response Rydian! Tried to attach a picture but I don't even have permission to do so.

So here are the steps that I did with no result:

1). Opened up Cheat Engine.
2). Opened up game which runs in Steam (however, I selected clashtitans.exe in Windows List, not Steam.exe).
3). Did a scan for the value 0
4). Started a game and after getting the first point I paused.
5). Took score and added it in the "value" part and did a scan.
6). Retrieved data and step 5 one more time.
7). Took newly Retrieved data, clicked the "red arrow", and changed the value.
. Went back to game and still no score.

I also did this using the "8 x score" method and nothing worked. I do have to say the videos I've watched of the tutorials are a few years old although I couldn't imagine the process changing much. Any ideas of what I might be doing wrong?

The 8x thing was for older versions of flash. There's often no real way to tell what format a game is keeping it's stuff in beforehand, that's why you use an unknown scan if searching for the value directly doesn't find it.

Run the cheat engine tutorial, and it runs you through the normal scan, then it should run you through an unknown scan (using a health bar as an example). The same concepts apply here.

Also you may need to change the type to Float or Double, but that's rarely used for score.

Hi Rydian,

I tried what you've suggested by checking the "unknown scan". This doesn't yield anything, and since the points only go up the decreased option doesn't work (mentioned by tutorial), so then I'd go with the increased value which also doesn't work. It seems like I tried many different angles and it always brings me to the same outcome.

Basically this is what I did:

1). Found clashtitans.exe and opened it.
2). scan exact number of 0 and found thousands of entries.
3). played one man and got an immediate score; paused game and typed the score in the value which was 35.
4). Did a "Next scan" for 35 and got three entries on left.
5). Added the three entries to the bottom (clicked red arrow) since playing again to get a higher score and repeating the process with 'next scan' doesn't show any numbers on left side.
6). Highlighted all bottom three values and changed value to 6815000020 (basically added a 68 in front of the score).
7). When I clicked to confirm the change I see the number for "value" is 2520032724.
. Even though that's not what I added, I go to the map and start the game, hit one target for points and still see score hasn't changed(even to the wrong 2520032724).
9). When I start playing, I notice that the score in Cheat Engine syncs with the game and then displays the current score again (so changes from 2520032724 back to original score that's on display in actual game).

I don't know if what I am doing is wrong Rydian, but at this point I'm a little exhausted after spending hours last night after seeing your post and not getting anything. Perhaps I need to disconnect the internet in order for this to work?

This is really a puzzle to me and although the tutorial is very simple and straight forward, this shouldn't be difficult at all.

If the option only goes up in a game, that doesn't mean that increase is all there is. For example "unchanged" will filter out all the stuff that changes other than score. Sit around in the game not doing anything for a few seconds so the score doesn't increase, then search for unchanged.

Also if you get game over and start a new game the score is back to 0 right? Which means that it decreases.
