Trying to host a site for my own domain on an xp laptop. No idea where to start im a noob when it comes to networking

If you have the money and are into the cloud thing, look into Amazon Web Services (or Azure, Heroku, etc). I use AWS for a couple work related projects, and it's pretty nice in the sense that I don't have to worry about some of the lower level details.
