Where do you guys buy your RAM? Newegg is expensive, is there a cheaper alternative?
Looking for 204 pin 2x4gb 1600mhz RAM

| Newegg. Stick to G.skill. High quality, good for overclocking, not too expensive.

I saw benchmarks that do show a difference though
Cause I have an AMD APU, and apparently RAM really matters with it

But a real benchmark of like in-game FPS, you will notice usually rather slight differences between 1333 MHz and 1600 MHz. Even less between 1600 and 1866.
And this is coming from a guy that has 8GB (4x2GB) 1600 MHz memory. I would have saved $10-$15 if I had done my research before buying memory, but honestly I don't mind it that much because $10-$15 isn't that much. But if you're complaining that $60-$70 is expensive, I don't see why you're going with the diminishing returns on your bang-for-buck.

| AMD sees nice boosts with ram of all speeds. The max native speed for FX is 1866mhz.

I mean I'm not sure what the usual prices are, one of my friends said RAM prices went up, that's why I'm saying its expensive, but the 10-15 dollars won't really make a difference to me
Hero, should I go for the 1600mhz? I was actually looking for G.SKill

If the the small difference in money isn't a big deal to you then just go with what you want, because ultimately that's what you're going to enjoy the most I suppose. If you want 1600MHz go for it because it's really that much more expensive. As far as RAM prices, they haven't reaaally gone up. Like maybe $5-$10 in the past six months but nothing considerable that I've noticed.
At least nothing like the hard drive price skyrocket that happened about a year ago I believe. Practically doubled the price of hard drives and it still hasn't even fully recovered.

Thanks elpacco, and if you were to refer a company for RAM, what would it be?

Thanks elpacco, and if you were to refer a company for RAM, what would it be? | Corsair, G.Skill, and Crucial are very good. Patriot, Mushkin, and Kingston are good as well. Pick one with good reviews.
