Cheat Engine

Anything I attempt to do on Zelda OOT (Emulated through Project64) I get this message. I'm assuming it has something to do with copyrights as I do not have this problem on other games. My firewall isn't blocking it. I'm still very new to this and was trying to follow another post on here learning how to use CE. Any help is appreciated.

It could be the bug in the scanner (which has been fixed)
Try the other cheat engine client(e.g i386.exe instead of x85_64)

Also, make sure you have enough diskspace. For a 2 byte scan you may need 8gb of diskspace free in the worst case scenario

Just tried to use CE without game running and it will work...of course. But then the game refuses to open if CE is open. And because I'm beyond noobish at this stuff currently. Not quite sure where to find the other cheat engine. I downloaded CE about 3 days ago.

ehm, never tried to hack in emulators with CE but,

that would not work if you pointed CE to a file "*.z64"....

this file is the actual game, what you want is access to the process memory, so you should instead open the process of project64...

btw, you know that project64 has built in cheats for zelda oot ? just go to system -> cheats
