You can spend more on a gaming i7 but I don't see the reason considering
1. This is better all-round for productivity tasks like audio/video editing considering it can distribute loads over eight cores
2. Nothing I've thrown at it gaming-wise has put it over 20% usage
and 3. By the time games get intense enough to stress this baby out they will probably also have come up with an octacore-capable engine that will be able to use its other four cores, cutting the load in half.
Why it's only $200?
I have no fucking idea, just buy it. |

FX 8320 is the best bet. You don't need 4ghz, it wont benefit from more than an epenis. Or wait for steamroller sometime this year. 200 dollars wont buy intel by a long shot, but AMD > Intel for normal PC usage and gaming.
Oh and by all means post some benchmarks were the AMD cpu gets like 100 fps and the intel gets like 130fps. 60fps is more than enough with dynamic Vsync for silky smooth play. |
