				| I'm thinking of buying some 1TB/2TB drives for storage I found some drives with these specs:

 3.5" drives:
WD Green - 5400RPM, SATA6Gb/s, 64MB cache, Low Power consumption
 WD Black - 7200RPM, SATA6Gb/s, 64MB cache

since they are both SATA6Gb/s and have same cache, does the RPM have a significant performance difference when it comes to storage only?

I also found the WD Blue 2.5" drives that have SATA6Gb/s, 5400RPM
Going for 2.5" could mean that I won't have to upgrade drives when 2.5" would soon replace 3.5"

Which drive would you recommend for storage?
 I need high-speed transfer rates

				| WD Black is faster and more reliable but it costs more, if its storage then Green is enough. I have one Green 2TB (seagate tho) for random backup and its prty good. Here is a benchmark, around 100MB/s R/W, not bad for storage. If you need more speed get black ones or you could also go w/ raid.
