|
|
I was working on my current scripting project, which uses the Alien LUA Extension, when all of a sudden I get the following output:
Code: | Error:error loading module 'alien_c' from file '.\alien_c.dll':
%1 is not a valid Win32 application. |
The strange thing is, it was working fine until I had to reload my project (in order to reset some variables), and I can confirm that both alien.lua and alien_c.dll both exist in Cheat Engine's main application directory.
I even tried reinstalling the files, reloading CE, and executing a new script with just one simple line:
... And it still gave me that error.
So I figured maybe it was some weird Windows 7 permissions issue, and decided to update the permissions of my cheat engine directory and subdirectories... still no dice!
And none of this makes any sense since it was working fine just minutes before reloading my script...
What's going on here, and what can I do to fix it?

Make sure you are running the 32-bit exe of cheatengine.
And only this binary will work with ce http://cheatengine.org/temp/celua_alien.rar

I only use the 32-bit version, and yes I am using that very same binary.
Also, today I loaded up my project again and this time it worked (as did a simple "require [[alien]]" statement).
But once again, I reloaded CE and then the same issue started to reoccur.
It just doesn't make any sense, but something's proving to be incredibly unstable here...
Perhaps I should just skip all this mess and make a plugin instead.
Does the engine expose any D3D interfaces/mechanisms to plugin devs?
EDIT:
Okay so apparently, I have two shortcuts which both say "Cheat Engine 6.2 (32-bit)". One of them is on my desktop, and another in my start menu.
Just to be sure I wasn't crazy, I checked the properties of both shortcuts...
Lo and behold, the one on my desktop actually points to the 64-bit version.
Except, I never renamed this shortcut and AFAIK I'm the only one who touches my laptop... So as strange as it may be, at least the problem is solved.
