Not sure what exactly the game (ArcaPinball Wacky Worlds) is doing? I use the Cheat Engine to find (Lives) and the (Score) Then save the cheats, close everything out. Then restart the game later and the cheat engine. Only to find the cheats i saved for the lives and score have ?? at the end of address and they don't work. So i have to refind all the cheats again. So i tried the pointer sreach and the address that were found don't make any difference. there are a lot of smart people here that have figured this out in some game and since i am not so smart at this stuff. Can someone give me some thoughts on what is going on and how i can figure this stuff out. Dark Byte The cheat Engine is the bomb. To add i am using Win Xp Pro 32-bit Sp3 and also Win 7 Pro 32-bit and getting the same resualts on both. Thanks for any help

Easiest is to try a higher level pointerscan or bigger structure size.
(also, never click stop, doing that is the same as deleting your results)

Unless it's a game running inside a browser in which case pointers will not work.

if it is a browsergame perhaps it makes use of just in time compilation and using the debugger you might find the code that accesses the values you wish and do a code injection there to store the address to a known location. Or change the value directly there.

If it doesn't and it's running on an emulator then all you can do is scan the memory. Perhaps you can find a easy to find groupscan for a block nearby which you can use as a relative baseaddress to the destination address you wish

I didn't tell that it's a PC game from 500,000 Games CD When i load up the (arcapinball.exe) I can't find jack. I have to load up in cheat engine (arcapinball.wrp.exe) in order to find anything. I have 3 different of the Cheat Engines 5.2 6.0 and 6.2 and they all come up with the same resualts. I find finding cheats more challenging then playing the game. But it gets on my nerves when i think i am doing something right but i ain't. And by the way what is this all about when i try to open CE 6.0

that means you didn't fully uninstall cheat engine and clear the registry when you installed 6.0
6.0 does not deal with 6.1 or 6.2 memorybrowser form data

ok that makes sense but dark byte you said (Easiest is to try a higher level pointerscan or bigger structure size.) Not sure of what you are saying. So i will try to use my tinker and ask you some dumb questions on my part as is this the this where you ajust the Structure settings in CE

And my thoughts on the game is that it doesn't stay in the same memory

You should be more focused on the options for the pointer scan. Try increasing the max level and unchecking "Addresses must be 32-bit aligned". When you find a pointer do you add it to the list of memory locations yet it doesn't work when you save and restart? Can you show a screenshot of the pointer address you have added?

A general hint for pointer scanning: If you have a hard time finding the right pointer, uncheck every option in the pointerscan, which might reduce the amount of results. Also increase the maximum offset in order to get as many results as possible. As long as you use the option "Improve pointerscan with gathered heap data", the scanning time will be appropriate most of the time. Getting more results won't hurt you and will increase the probability of finding the right pointer.

I also tend to think that it is much more promising to do a sepearte pointerscan for each level (start with maximum level 1, then do 2, then 3 and so on..). But I may be wrong though.

I’ve been learning

I’ve been learning about the Cheat Engine. Thanks for all your replies. I still don’t understand a lot of CE functions. But I am beginning to understand the scripting part of CE. I used that part of CE to find the some of the cheats i’m looking for. I am getting the pic’s of what I am doing when it comes to the pointers. So please keep checking back here. It might take me at least a few weeks to get done.

Dark Byte, can you making a video on using the functions of CE. It took me until 2 days ago to beat the CE Tutorial.

Also Dark Byte is there a way I can send you the game I am trying to hack some cool stuff on?

Also this game Arcapinball is identical to Roboball.

Thanks
