Say I want to hack a Flash app by changing a greyed out wordbox. I searched google and CE forums to find, thought about ASCII and such and could not find anything.

So, again, I want to change the value of a greyed out box. There are letters in it, I want to replace it with letters. Is it possible? If so, how?

Try checking the unicode box when searching.

Idk how flash is working exactly but if that doesnt work also scan mem_mapped, and executable memory?

When I want to edit something,
Change to 'string', scan for the letters (case-sentensive), and replace, then quit the place and re-join, and you should see it has been changed...
