But a few things are left unexplained, as far as I can recall.

Who's the masked guy?
What happened to the guy who went mental, and saved the people at the memorial statue by fighting that beast underground?

Yeah, ending was seriously sub-par.
It gets cut off so rapidly with a simple reveal of what everybody who isn't a retard knew long ago.

And yeah, they're in the future. That's the big reveal. NOTHING is explained about why that place, why that time, why extinct animals, why they knew, ...
