oh ok not only will I spend 50 trillion hours finding the best standard quality torrents of every show with synced sound and transferring them to the server but I'll add in a wee extra little step where I transcode them all to mp4 and hardcode any subtitles
that's only like another 1,000 trillion hours of work sure why not

a shitton of people already have the vlc plugin, which literally takes no effort to install

not saying i'm streaming pure 100% goodness, but direct mkv's @ 720p is decent enough to deserve getting a plugin installed

sometimes someone doesn't want to download video and wait in order to play it, so they rather just stream in quickly

I ALSO suppose that you know an automated method for this rite?

Just write a script to convert all files using FFmpeg. It's faster if the streams are supported by MP4 so you don't need to re-encode.
