				| Good luck man and let me know how it goes. Just wondering, how will you fit that all in the original casing?
I assume it will be elevated in the front...

edit: slap in a raspberry pi and you've made yourself a tablet pc.

				| Where do you go for CNC? I think that would be baller, especially if you made the ventilation cutouts as some neat ornamental pattern etc.
Heck you could steampunk out the whole thing, you could do anything.
 I love DIY.

				| Oh boy, well machines cost $1,000-$10,000 and more depending on size etc. I would assume usage will be up to a few hundred dollars.
It's not as bad as 3d printing, though.

				| eh cintiq screens are going to be ridiculously more precise than your diy touchscreen

however, your project is likely a LOT less expensive though so
best of luck; tell us how it goes!

				| there are a couple of people saying that there is a little bit of jitering with this project because of the distance from the tablet to the surface. I tested it with screen off and it was not really noticeable.
also, cintiqs being more precise? not really.. I'm using an Intuos 4 L as base and a WXGA+ (1440×900) screen (starting the 22" cintiq the screen is 1080p for 2000$)

also going to add an oleophobic screen protector to avoid fringerprints

 ---------
 my intuos4: 500$
 lcd board + power supply + shipping : 50$
screen (actually recycled from my dead alienware laptop): around 200$
Lets say the enclosure is around: 200$

I got myself a pretty decent DIY cintiq for half the price.
and it is just about 250$ of investment in the project since I had the expensive things beforehand.

He could use it as a secondary screen for his computer and watch movies on it but i do not know why you would want too, that is going to cost $$$ and it would be better to upgrade your computer instead of making a dumb pen tablet (personally).
