How do I cheat?

I want to make the time freeze in Sonic Adventure 2 (steam) and when I find the values for the seconds and what not i try to freeze them but no go so after i try to find the pointers to that address and when i do a "find out what writes to this address" the game crashes... I assume its an anti-hack built in. My question is Is there a way i should try to bypass this anti-hack thing or should I go about changing the time in a different way.


Super nub! help is much needed.
